Hi, my name's Elijah! I'm an aspiring poet currently studying for my Bachelor's Degree in English Writing at Mississippi College. I'm originally from Texas and my favorite writing aesthetics are cloudy weather and forests with lots of green! I started Mangata in 2019 to collect my poems in one place and has been a joy to watch grow with every poem I add.

Mangata is a Swedish word that is untranslatable into the English language. Most closely, mangata is meant to refer to the path-like reflection that moonlight creates on body of water. The image that such a small word makes, so packed with beauty and wonder, is a testament to the power of language. Mangata also provides an ample metaphor
